Excited about their new video camera, the family tapes everything that happens in their world. Anything from the first time the baby crawled, their son’s first bike ride, to the wedding day of a loved one. The memories are still fresh in their minds and close to their hearts. As they rewind and watch the videos, they begin to realize that things did not happen just as they remembered. They ask themselves, “Did we really sit and watch the baby drool on the blanket for twenty minutes before he crawled? Did junior really cry for ten minutes after the bike accident, while we searched through the house looking for a bandage, leaving the video camera running and filming the neighbor’s lawn being watered? Did Aunt Girdie really borrow the camera at the wedding to tape a half an hour of random people stuffing their faces at the buffet?” Despite the best of intentions, home movies typically come out as long, boring, choppy renditions that fail to do justice to important events. Many times the perfect moments that have been captured are stored away on old VHS tapes in the garage, along with the old VCR that was replaced with a DVD player.
